Ted Leonsis Opens Up

Ted Leonsis recently sat down for a question and answer session with writers and reporters from the newly revived Washington Times sports section. They covered a lot of ground and if you’re interested in a look inside your team owner’s head, it’s worth the read.

He discusses his view of the Stanley Cup and his plan for the Capitals. He also reveals his words of wisdom for John Wall.

“I’ve had the same conversations with John Wall that I’ve had with Alex Ovechkin, which start with - there’s a reason we were able to draft you. We’re really bad. But the good news is, it’s by design,” Leonsis said. “And you’re going to have pain. There’s going to be days where you’re miserable and that the pain needs to drive you because it’ll get better.”

He goes on about both teams, but the part that resonated with us most was when he discussed his professional successes. You can criticize the man if you like, but his track record in business is pretty impressive.

It’s easy to be impatient and we certainly have our concerns about the Wizards future. But watch this video and see if it gives you just a little bit of hope.

Because let’s face it. Aside from this man’s plan, hope is all we have.
