Headlines are trumpeting that Stephen Strasburg will pitch in Hagerstown on Sunday, but those headlines are missing one very important qualifier -- if.
According to Mark Zuckerman of CSN Washington, Davey Johnson has said that Strasburg’s start is contingent upon his side work going well on Thursday. If he does well, then he’s slated to pitch one or two Class A innings.
So while we’re optimistic, don’t get too excited yet.
We’ll keep our eye out for news from Strasburg’s Thursday workout. In the meantime, this video from Strasburg’s simulated Tuesday game will have to tide you over.
