Robert Griffin III, who is sponsored by adidas, covered up the Nike logo on his warmups before the Redskins' Week 1 win over the New Orleans Saints.
Last week, NFL officials said that "it won't happen again," to which RGIII had no comment. Then, before Sunday's 31-28 loss to the St. Louis Rams, Griffin wore a blank shirt while warming up, reigniting the sponsorship war once more.
So, during his weekly press conference Wednesday, Griffin was asked point-blank if his crafty cover-ups were measures to pledge his allegiance to adidas.
"Nah, it's just, uh...yes," Griffin said to a chorus of laughter."There's no way around that one."
"In the preseason, I had a blank white normal NFL Equipment one and they took it and gave me the other one," he continued, probably referring to the shirt he wore before the Rams game. "I just wanted to have a blank shirt on and I'll probably have a blank one on for the next game."
He's new in Washington. He'll get better at lying with time.
