The NFL fined Robert Griffin III $10,000 Thursday for an apparel violation after wearing an unauthorized t-shirt during warmups before Monday's preseason game against the Steelers.
Griffin did not play Monday, but while working out before the game, he wore a shirt with "Operation Patience," a catchphrase he coined to describe his return from offseason knee surgery, emblazoned across the front. The shirt is made by Adidas, one of RGIII's many sponsors, but Nike is the NFL's official apparel provider, so now his pockets are slightly lighter (but c'mon, not really).
This is not the first time that Griffin has been docked for wearing inappropriate apparel; he was fined twice last season for wearing Adidas gear, once before a game and once during a postgame press conference.
