Robert Griffin III Could Return In Eight Weeks

Robert Griffin III's return from a dislocated left ankle is expected this season and could be as soon as eight weeks following an update provided by Redskins head coach Jay Gruden.

According to Gruden, Griffin will be in a cast for the next 10 days. At that point, Griffin will likely spend four to six weeks rehabilitating the injury, reports ESPN. No surgery is required on the injury suffered last Sunday during the first quarter of Washington's 41-10 victory against Jacksonville.

In Griffin's indefinite absence, Kirk Cousins will start in his place, beginning Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Right now, we're going to prepare with Kirk Cousins as our starter and Robert's going to rehab, and all decisions after that will come after that," Gruden told reporters. "But right now, we're going to go try to do the best we can and get Kirk ready to go and beat Philadelphia."
