Typically, NFL starters sit out the fourth and final preseason game as the regular season looms. Yet according to News4's Dianna Russini, the Redskins starting offense may take part in a few series against the Buccaneers Thursday.
The starting defense will not play on Thursday but sources tell me the starting offense could play a few series. #Redskins — Dianna Marie Russini (@NBCdianna) August 25, 2014
The Redskins had a poor showing Saturday against the Ravens in a 23-17 loss. Among other iffy performances, Robert Griffin III was sacked three times and his last pass attempt was intercepted.
For a team still adjusting to a new coach in Jay Gruden and the accompanying systemic changes, perhaps a few more drives would not hurt, though there is certainly risk involved.
Gruden will address the situation following practice Monday.
