Nationals Game Postponed Due To Navy Yard Shootings

Due to ongoing activity at Navy Yard following this morning's shooting, the Nationals' game against the Braves scheduled for 7:05 p.m. has been postponed. A day-night doubleheader will be played Tuesday with the first game at 1:05 p.m. and the second at 7:05 p.m.

"All of us here in the Nationals organization were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic events that occurred this morning only a few blocks from Nationals Park," the team said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with our friends at the Navy Yard and those impacted by today's incident."

As locals know, Nationals Park is in the direct vicinity of where the shooting took place early Monday morning and serviced by the Navy Yard Metro. Law enforcement presence in the area is still heavy as the investigation continues.

The Nationals are in the midst of a playoff push; they are just 4.5 games behind the Reds for the second wild-card spot in the National League.

News4 and NBCWashington.com will have continuing coverage.
