NHL Cancels Remainder Of Preseason Schedule

The NHL canceled the remainder of its preseason schedule Thursday, and  the beginning of the 2012-13 season is in jeopardy.

All exhibition games through October 8 will not be played; the NHL canceled all September preseason games last week. The NHL and NHLPA have yet to reach an agreement regarding a new collective bargaining agreement, but will resume negotiations Friday for the first time since the lockout took effect Sept. 15.

Meanwhile, the Washington Capitals will lose four more preseason games: Oct. 1 at Columbus, Oct. 3 at Boston, Oct. 5 v. Nashville and Oct. 7 v. Detroit. The Caps' regular-season opener is scheduled for October 12 against the New Jersey Devils at Verizon Center.
