Browns Thought Robert Griffin III Was “Too Small” Among Other Things

It was no secret that when the Washington Redskins traded up to the No. 2 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, they were doing so to snag quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns were sitting at No. 3. They ended up selecting Alabama running back Trent Richardson before taking Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden at No. 22. Yet, what if RGIII slipped down to No. 3? It would seem likely that the Browns would snatch up such a talent, right?

Not so fast (no pun intended).

According to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio via ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi, the Browns were not impressed with Griffin. Grossi reported Wednesday that Grffin was “too small . . . [a]nd too eager to show how fast he could run.” Also, Cleveland apparently "pursued him just enough to say they tried." Alright then.

For what it's worth, Weeden is listed at 6'4" and 221 pounds, while Griffin is 6'2" and 223.

Cleveland's loss, I guess.
