From the Washington City Paper blog Housing Complex

A while back, Washington City Paper considered doing a feature about the most ridiculous give-aways and perks—I once saw a moped—that real estate agents used to entice buyers. In the end, there weren’t that many to talk about. So, we opted to do another feature. But, that was then (like January 2008), and right now is a whole different story. Saturday’s Washington Post included an article all about the great lengths that agents are willing to go to get some attention for their listings. Here’s a little sample:

“Cozy private dinners for six? Demonstrations of high-end kitchen appliances? Pricey wines provided by a local business? These are the extra touches that Mayhood, president of the Mayhood Co. in McLean, has been using to add dash to the open houses he has arranged for Turnberry Tower, a luxury high-rise condo development targeted to open a year from now in Rosslyn.”
