I just did a search looking at home sales in D.C. in the last month (12/28/08-1/28/09).

Turns out the average home sale was $543,001 with 142 homes sold, which means this house is as middle-of-the-road as you can get in the District these days:

4515 Iowa Ave NW sold for $542,500 (Four bedrooms/three bathrooms; Built in 1915; Located in the 16th Street Heights neighborhood.)

Compare that to last year’s…

 

Average of $689,082 with 172 homes sold in same the time period, making this house an average buy…

639 Massachusetts Ave NE (Three bedrooms/two bathrooms; Built in 1900; Located on Capitol Hill)
