Dupont location testing out a fake "meat" option

Veggie lovers, you're in luck! The Dupont Circle location of Chipotle (1629 Connecticut Ave. N.W.) is now testing a new menu option: Garden Blend, a blend of protein, grains and veggies marinated in adobo sauce, then grilled. Enjoy this meatless meat (which incudes plenty of protein) in your favorite burrito, bowl or salad. You can't beat an overstuffed burrito loaded with food that never had a mother.

The option is totally vegan, but does contain soy and wheat. Hey, it's hard to please the vegans and the gluten-free set at the same time, you know.

Here's the word on the ingredients, via the Lunch Box Bunch:

Ingredients: Water, Soy Protein, Canadian Wheat Protein (also called vital wheat gluten), Fresh Carrots, Natural Flavors (from plant sources), Pea Protein, Carrot Fiber, Organic Beet Root Fiber, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Yeast Extract, and Sea Salt.

Wow ... nutritious!

While this mock meat is only available at the Dupont location, if you want Garden Blend offered at a Chipotle near you, shoot the company an e-mail and let them know.
