Plenty of wine to drink in Virginia

October brings the changing color of leaves, ghosts and ghouls and carved pumpkins. But if you're in Virginia, you can add delicious grapes to that list.
Virginia is kicking off its Wine Month this weekend with a bevy of beverage-laden activities across the state. And one of the most popular is in our backyard.
Head on out to Middleburg for two days of drinkin' and pickin' at the Norton Wine and Bluegrass festival at picturesque Chrysalis Vineyards.
It's harvest time for the Norton grape -- the only native grape to Virginia -- and Chrysalis is going all out with a two-day party to celebrate. Besides the music, you can also taste some local food, buy some unique art and even take a hayride (allergies permitting).
But the wine is the star of the show. Let your guide catch you up on all you've missed by not experiencing wine made from a Norton grape.
The Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour at Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens is another popular event, but last we checked most tickets were already sold out. Check here to see if any spots are still available for Sunday's festivities.
There are many more events and festivals throughout the month, including the Alexandria Food and Wine Festival next weekend. So if you miss out on this week's happenings, don't fret.
