Located in the heart of Georgetown, Mie N Yu offers American-style cuisine with touches from the Middle East and Asia. The ambience is one of the most ornamented in D.C. There are many different rooms for private parties but the Morrocan Bazaar is where lunch, brunch and dinner are served. With tented tables, wooden floors, candle-lit tables, and golden statues, Mie N Yu is one of the most unique restaurants I have ever visited.

I went for lunch and had the three-course meal. I was a little worried at first, as the choices weren’t your everyday lunch fare, but I decided to give it a try anyway. For the first course, I chose salmon bruschetta. I can’t say that I’m a big salmon fan, but it sounded better than roasted beets or dates. With bell peppers, salmon, feta cheese and tomatoes, it was surprisingly a perfect combination. The second course was the Tandoori Chicken kabob, which was great, except for the apricot raisin couscous that comes with it. For the last course, you get to choose a dessert, which is either pear streusel or the ice cream of the day.

If you don't want to the three-course meal, other items are available such as sandwiches, salads and pitas.

The dinner menu offers the same three-course-style meal, which costs about $30 a person. They also have a cheese-tasting menu that offers samples of smoked, goat and blue cheeses.

Menu items, specials and occasions change often, so it is best to check their website to keep up to date.
