Shove the button-downs under the bed and break out your best cocktail attire this Friday night -- 'cause Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) is holding its second annual Affairs of State: Date Auction and Concert at the City Tavern Club (3206 M. St NW). Wow ... that sounds like it could get pretty wild!

From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., mix and mingle with other 21-and-overs at YPFP's largest social function of the year. For just $40 in advance (order a ticket here) or $50 at the door, bid on dates, enjoy the open bar ('til 10 p.m.) and free drink specials and giveaways. A live performance by Sick Feed is sure to get these young professionals jammin.' Yeah.

Need any more incentive to shell out the big bucks? The silent auction will feature a virtual Who's Who of foreign policy. Some names you'll recognize, even if you've only been in DC for about 16 minutes: Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski, Sen. John Warner and Mary Beth Long.

Fashion designer and "District Dish" contributor Ebong Eka will serve as the leader of ceremonies. Ebong, along with Pamela Sorenson of  "Pamela's Punch," will serve as the auctioneers.

All proceeds will support YPFP, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that aims to cultivate the next generation of foreign policy leadership. Who knows? You could meet that special someone -- and your foreign policy idol.

YPFT promises that this is one of the not-to-be-missed DC social events of the season. Be there or be square ... or just dateless and $40 or $50 richer.
