Thank G-d It’s Obama. In my e-mail inbox, T.G.I. Friday’s has just thrown down some serious smack talk. The family feedbag chain has announced that It will be throwing the largest inaugural ball in 920 restaurants all over the world. So basically, as one writer here noted, the restaurant is staying open on January 20.

But wait. There’s so much more. The chain is offering drink specials. And half-priced apps with the purchase of an entree. “Now that’s cool!” sez the press release (Um. It’s not cool). And yet, that isn’t enough!

The chain promises:

“All guests at the party will receive a commemorative Friday’s-style button to show that they were at the World’s Largest Inauguration Party.”

Hello Ebay!

There’s more for VIPs (seriously) which I think are just loyal customers. But who cares. It just feels a little sad. I feel greasy for just writing this post. But I couldn’t resist.

“Nobody will throw an Inauguration party like T.G.I. Friday’s,” the chain’s flack boasted at the end of the release.
