You grew up watching it and now your kids do. Sesame Street, the longest running children’s program in the United States, celebrates four decades of fun and educational programming this week.

The Smithsonian is throwing a birthday bash for America’s favorite children's television show Sunday, Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. Special guests Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Zoe and Prairie Dawn -- along with muppeteers Kevin Clash, Leslie Carrara-Rudolph and Fran Brill -- will be at the party.

Get a chance to talk about the show’s 40 years of educational entertainment with executive producer Carol-Lynn Parente -- not to mention Maria (Sonia Manzano). They'll be sharing clips from the first season in 1969 and some scenes from new episodes. Bring your camera for the muppet meet-and-greet.

Tickets are $15-$18 online. Children under two are free but must be included on ticket order.
