The Fourth of July is a time to show your patriotism and, of course, drink. Therefore, we're delighted to state the blatantly obvious: Finding great drink specials will not be a problem this weekend.

Join Town Tavern (2323 18th St. N.W.) this Friday and start celebrating a day early. From 5 to 7 p.m., women drink for free, with a $5 cover that will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Guys are not excluded from the deal; they can enjoy $1 Bud and Bud Light bottles. There will also be military discounts with anyone with a valid military ID.

Other specials include Freedom Yards and Buckets; $10 red, white and blue Town Tavern yard drinks with $5 refills all night, and buckets of Bud and Bud Light for $12. Specials run until 3 a.m.

The tavern will also be hosting festivities on the Fourth, including wet T-shirt races, goldfish gutter racing, beer pong, flip-cup and Twister. Winners will each receive a prize. The tavern will be dishing up hot dogs, cotton candy and popcorn. From 6 to 8 p.m., enjoy a $10 open bar on rail drinks. Wear a festive outfit or bikini (like you weren’t already planning on doing that!) to qualify for a free raffle entry.
