Bring your plastic bags and haul tail, literally, to the first annual Love Ball. Yeah, 'cause we just know you've been waiting for a classy cocktail affair you can bring your dog to.

The Love Ball 2009, hosted by the Montgomery County Humane Society, will raise money to save thousands of homeless animals.

Saturday's event, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda (7400 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda), is Saturday from 7 to -11 p.m. Expect a "doggy and me" cocktail hour, plus live and silent auctions. Prizes include a four-day, three-night stay at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, gift cards for local dining and entertainment, and of (obvy) plenty of pet pampering packages. Also included is a gourmet four-course meal, an awards program, a doggie bar, an animal communicator (oh, that we oughta see) and a live band.

A tables of 10 will run your group a cool $1,500, with single tickets hitting $150.
