Proving that DC is a city filled with innovators and creative types is no small task. We see you sitting there in your dress shirt, punching away furiously on that Blackberry. Ssssquare.

But the Capital Fringe Festival has given thousands of artists an outlet to showcase their work to a national and international audience, and tickets for 2009 are now on sale. We're telling you to buy now, because these creative types will be snapping up tickets faster than you can answer an e-mail on the Crackberry.

The shows at the festival can be unpredictable -- awesome or awful is up to you. Individual tickets are $15; multi-show passes go from $50 to $300, so look over the complete schedule and plan your ticket purchases accordingly.

Theatrical events range from cabaret to drama to experimental. Slash Coleman, an award-winning comedian (with a great name, we might add) brings a unique one-man show. Zehra Fazal's solo show is a love letter to the experience of growing up Muslim in America. Or maybe you're hungry? The dark comedy trio SOUP! will satisfy all your cravings at their show.

Wear a Fringe button ($5) to enter any Fringe venue -- this year, you'll find 'em in Penn Quarter and Mount Vernon Square. Whether it's an old cigar shop or a German cultural institute, you'll score freebies and discounts all year long. Nellie's Sports Bar (900 U St. N.W.), which will be offering $3 beers throughout the festival to anyone wearing the button.

The festival runs July 9-26.
