The good news: We finally figured out how we can be models. The bad news: It involves a hell of a lot of fundraising. We always knew that strutting on the catwalk would somehow involve bribery. Sigh.

The Fashion for Paws event is March 28 at the Embassy of Italy (3000 Whitehaven St. N.W.) from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. More than 60 locals will hit the runway in spring looks from labels such as Seven for All Mankind, Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller and Anthropologie. And they've all helped raise bucks for the Washington Humane Society -- last year's event yielded more than $330,000.

The top male and female fundraisers will win the title of Model Washingtonian of the Year. Leading fundraiser Amanda Polk has already come up with nearly $9,000, and it's all to benefit the Washington Humane Society.

The fashion show kicks off at 9:15, and a dance party featuring the band The Frustrations gets underway at 10 p.m. in a festive tent (so much better than at Girl Scout Camp) outside the embassy.

Oh, and more good news: Batman will be there. Honorary chairs include actor Val Kilmer (you might know him as a former Batman), NBC’s Luke Russert and Animal Planet’s Victoria Stilwell.

General admission tickets are $75 and VIP tables go for $2,000. But it's to help the animals. And meet Batman. Yeah.
