Before the craziness of the Fourth of July weekend emerges, take time to relax. Washington's Patriotic Pool Party is just the latest in a long, happy, drunken line of summer events at the Capitol Skyline Hotel's pool (10 I St. S.W.).

... AKA, yay for Friday being a federal holiday!

With the party (noon through 8 p.m.) just a few blocks from Nats Park, create your own version of a tailgate party before the Nats vs. Braves game that night. Put your name in for one of the raffles for prizes like Miller Lite Beer Pen tickets at Nats Park and a free night at the Capitol Skyline Hotel.

Food and drink specials include $3 Coors Lights, $4 Blue Moons, $5 Imperial vodka, $5 Skyline sangria and $4 “buckets” of food.

There will be, of course, swimming and inflatable pool toys -- and after a few drinks, you can participate in one of the belly flop contests. We're betting it will hurt a LOT less after a few of those Skyline sangrias.

Tickets to the party are $5 in advance or $10 at the door. The party's open to 21 and older only -- sorry, interns.

BTW: Saturday, the pool hosts a Fat Camp party.
