Space Camp, Anyone?

It's like a day camp for grownups!

This Saturday, Brightest Young Things is hosting Space Camp on the roof of the Capitol Skyline Hotel (10 I St. S.W.) from noon to 8 p.m. as part of its Summer Camp Series.

The first 30 people through the door get to scarf free astronaut ice cream (yum?). And we think everyone can agree that a moon bounce and model rockets are tops. The BYT Web site also promises space-themed crafts/games, inflatable pool toys and food and drinks (let's hope the last one isn't literal). Dance the day away to the tunes of space disco DJs, ED Dudes, Nitekrawler, Deep Sang & Meistro.

A mere $10 will buy you the day by the pool. Another fiver gets you drinks, and for $4, enjoy calamari, wings and falafel. For those looking for more elaborate poolside dining, a full lunch and dinner menu will be available. ATMs and lockers will be on hand too -- but we suggest you bring your own padlock (or get one from the hotel for $10).

Plus, Brightest Young Things will be previewing the new LP from DISCOVERY (Rostam from Vampire Weekend and Wes from Ra Ra Riot), out July 7 on XL. Make sure to stick around for free giveaways, too.

Sounds like a fun day under the sun -- oh please, please, let there be sun. And since we won't actually be in space with no atmosphere, there just might be a chance.
