Grazie a Italia

For pizza, pasta, lasagna, wine -- we could go on for days

Buongiorno! The Festa Italiana Foundation hosts its 11th annual Festa Italiana this Sunday, June 28, from 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in DC's old Little Italy at 3rd and F streets NW. (DC even has a Little Italy? We know, we were shocked, too.)

The one-day festival will feature traditional Italian cuisine from Buca di Beppo, Dolci Gelati, LavAzza Coffee and d'Acqua, as well as musicians, dancers and a circus act. (We're hoping for an organ grinder with a monkey.) Enter raffles for a chance to win private pizza-making lessons, a seven-day cruise or Italian language lessons.

This year's fest focuses its theme on the region of Puglia, a peninsula in the southwest of Italy. You know how Italy is "the boot"? The heel in that boot is Puglia. Pronounce it right, though -- it's "pool-ia." Don't say we didn't warn you.

With the weekend (almost) behind you, throw your bikini worries to the wind and dig into diet-destroying pizza, pasta, lasagna, fried calamari and cannoli. Remember that figure-disguising, lump-hiding, work-appropriate mini-tent you bought "just in case"? Wear it with pride on Monday.

Ciao for now!
